Eight-year-old Santa swallows a bright yellow fish in order to embark upon a magical, poetic journey through ochre-coloured deserts and azure horizons. She wants to take her mother to heaven (Cielo), the paradise that Santa believes is real. She drives old lorries, has macabre encounters with stern priests and inconsolable policemen, and joins a tough, female indigenous wrestling troupe. “CIELO is one of the most original, fascinating fantasy films of recent years”, commented the jury at the Fantasporto film festival, where the film won three awards. An ode to Bolivian culture and the spiritual power of the Andes, garnished with dry humour. 

Director's Biography:Alberto Sciamma, born in Barcelona in 1975, is a screenwriter and director. His films are atmospheric, visually impressive dramas with poetic imagery, surreal elements, profound characters and subtle emotions.
