Janine has made her decision: Together with her asthmatic partner, she turns her back on Berlin and moves back to the village of her youth. Her queer appearance, however, is met not only with enthusiasm on the village streets. Her neighbour Peter lives with his overburdened mother and brother Enrico. Janine’s arrival stokes his longings, but also means a fear-filled coming out. Jan Eilhardt: “The filming took place not far from Braunschweig: in the southern Harz, in the area where I grew up. To withstand the contempt back then, I often imagined the village as a brightly lit stage. And now I want to go back to the village.”

Director's Biography:Jan Eilhardt studied film and performance at the HFBK Hamburg and assisted at the Berliner Ensemble. DIE FREMDENVERFÜHRERIN (2022), a queer-activist Super 8 short film, screened at international festivals and won numerous awards.
