Jerichow, a forgotten town in eastern Germany. Three people meet randomly but with fateful consequences. Thomas, young, taciturn, former soldier in Afghanistan. Ali, mistrustful, but still affable, made wealthy by his takeaway stalls and Laura, Ali`s attractive but aloof wife. Thomas is looking for work and when Ali employs him as a driver, he starts an affair with Laura. And so the drama unfolds around these three people, who become entangled deeper and deeper in their passions, secrets and dependencies. According to the director, ”There is no scene without money: as an image, as an exchange value, as fraud and as a means of acquisition.”
