New International Cinema

Years of crisis are good years – at least for international cinema. It is very unfortunate to be able to choose only ten plus five films from a huge range with an astonishing variety of genres of good films this year. However, the programe turned out to be impressive: THE NET debuts. It`s Kim Ki-Duk`s latest film, which portrays the Korean conflict through only one personal fate. We will be showing different films with strong female protagonists for example LOS PERROS and KATIE SAYS GOODBYE, not only from female directors. For the heart and soul we offer Kirsten Tan`s début feature POP AYE (Thailand) and Shubhashish Bhutiani`s HOTEL SALVATION (India), FREE AND EASY shows strange things from China . Thrilling and entertaining genre-cinema will be there too; the brilliant Thriller BLIND SPOT or the Afro Western TRAIN OF SALT AND SUGAR.
