Anna (Johanna Wokalek) is an outstanding German organist. Her Latvian husband is the managing director of a timber company and is also his wife’s sponsor. Shortly after returning to Latvia following a concert, Anna’s husband is taken away by the authorities. The accusation: corruption in the sale of forest land. After being questioned, he returns to their remote villa. Anna’s birthday is coming up. In addition to business friends, a journalist is also expected to arrive. It is “business as usual”, but beneath the surface, things are simmering. The film camera penetrates the feigned calm. THE EXALTED thrillingly develops its own undertow around the question of whether Anna can adapt to a new reality.

Director's Biography:Born in Latvia in 1983, Juris Kursietis began his career as a foreign correspondent for television, thereby shooting reports and documentaries. Since completing a master’s degree in film directing, he has worked as a screenwriter and director for commercials, documentaries and feature films.
