The artist Anna lives with her three children in a remote coastal area of Iceland. Her husband Magnús, a fisherman from whom she has recently separated, continues to visit his family when he is ashore and attempts to be part of family life again. Can this work? Supported by a strong cast, including director Pálmason’s own three children, the film revolves around love between closeness, distance and change over the course of a year – touching, sometimes irritating and with plenty of absurd humour. As with his masterpiece GODLAND, this film is set in the magnificent landscape of Iceland and captivates with its exuberant creativity and visual surprises.

Director's Biography:Hlynur Pálmason (born 1984) grew up in Höfn, Iceland. Initially a visual artist, he successfully turned to film. His masterpiece GODLAND is now followed by the unconventional family drama THE LOVE THAT REMAINS, which screened in competition at Cannes.
