Lake Alaotra in Madagascar offers a habitat for peasant farmers and rare animals. The last specimens of the endangered bandro, a species of lemur, live on the floating islands in the lake. In impressive images, Julio Dordel and Guido Tölke show the relationships between the survival of the bandro and the inhabitants. At the same time, they observe social ecologists who are researching the changes in the habitat and the ensuing developments and are looking for a common future for both, human beings and the endangered local fauna and flora.
