Picture by DEFA-Stiftung. Autumn 1917. In Russia the Revolution has won. The machine operator Lobke and the stoker Kasten are part of the fraternization of German and Russian soldiers. They disarm their officers and prevent the sinking of a Russian freighter. In Germany the battle goes on. Port workers in Kiel and sailors call for a mass strike, demand the end of the war and the removal of the Emperor. In order to stop the Revolution, the German fleet is to be sent to its destruction in a battle against the English. The film had its premiere on 9th November, 1958, for the 40th anniversary of the November Revolution in the Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle in Berlin.
