Sandra, a young woman, is in prison for assault. She is heavily pregnant. The camera lingers on her face in long shots; it is easy to read the workings of her mind. She seems concentrated, but also very tense. Sandra fights to keep her baby with her after the birth. The social worker and the youth welfare office are sceptical. Through cleverly interwoven flashbacks, the director gradually uncovers more and more mosaic pieces of the personality picture of the withdrawn, often angry woman. We find out how it all came to this. An intense drama about repressed rage and gruelling guilt with a brilliant leading actress.
