First: A cult movie of the mexican avan-garde, part essay à la Vertov part Heimatfilm à la Buñuel. Originally, Koka-Kola en la sangre should have been the title. It alludes to horror (one immediately can imagine the entitled transfusion) but, actually, it is the most fitting metaphor for the movie’s story: How does it feel to be a colony at the time of the Yaqui-capitalism? After that: Trashy science fiction, nice and cheap like in the golden 60s, this time: a performance art project. Or, citing Naomi Rincón Gallardo Shimade: “We look for the image of progress in the mirror of past.” You get to see the first three episodes. Of how many? Only time will tell.
