From the rushing image of the living room and Sunday dress, to always the same landscape images; all captured on Super 8. In ONCE UPON A TIME IN GERMANY, the inertia of German memory culture from the 60s to the 80s is combined with the home recording. These are moments that were important at some point and had to be immortalised on film. This triviality breaks with conventional conventions of cinema. The cut-up found footage work from more than 50 kilometres of Super 8mm film is set to live music by the directors and their collection of soundscapes and sampled text fragments from German Dada, Beat and underground literature.
