Introverted nine-year-old Cáit - fantastically played by debutant actress Catherine Clinch - is neglected in her dysfunctional family. When the birth of another child is imminent, she is placed in the care of a childless middle-aged couple for the summer. She gradually blossoms under the affection and care she has never known. And although there should be no secrets in this house, she discovers one...

THE QUIET GIRL is gently told and shows us rural Ireland in 1981 in beautiful pictures. The film music and melodic Irish language particularly underline the story. Irish entry for the Oscars 2023 and European Film Awards 2022.

Director's Biography:Born in Dublin in 1981, Colm Bairèad grew up bilingual but shoots a lot in Irish, which he is committed to nurturing. In 2012 he received an award from the Screen Director's Guild of Ireland for his contribution to Irish filmmaking. THE QUIET GIRL is his feature film debut.
