Picture by 2018 Ciudad Lunar, Blond Indian, Mateo Contreras. ”It is something like a gangster film but also completely different to what you have seen”, is how the director and screenwriter describes his visually stunning epos about the rise and fall of a clan of the Wayúu people in the budding drug trade in the North of Columbia in the 70s. The clan, led by the proud matriarch Ursula, is deeply rooted in its traditions. The vicious circle begins when Rapayet, an outsider, cannot pay the high dowry for Zaida and begins to deal in marijuana. The plan takes off, the business booms and gradually changes society dramatically. Opening film of the ”Directors Fortnight” in Cannes.
