DIE EINSIEDLER tells the story of Albert who has left his parental mountain farm in order to build up a livelihood in the valley. Parallel to this, the life of the mother in the remore farm is shown. A life full of hard work and deprivations which she wants to spare her son of at all costs. To achieve this, she is also prepared to cover up the accidental death of her husband. However, Albert finds out what happened. And so he is faced with the decision: tradition and sense of duty, or a new start. In his first feature film, Ronny Trocker creates atmospheric and evocative images in order to relate of a life which Happyends today but appears to be far in the past.
