In Lecontes celebrated psycho thriller MONSIEUR HIRE, Bonnaire plays Alice, the object of desire of lonely and voyeuristic Monsieur Hire. When a murder happens, Hire sees Alice`s fiancé wash off blood in her flat. Meanwhile, Alice discovers her secret observer. As he could be a confidant, Alice strives to get closer to Monsieur Hire, who declares that he won`t denounce Alice`s fiancé because of his love for her. Alice returns his affection, but when Hire wants to leave the country with her, she sets up a trap. The phenomenal interpretation develops into an intensive lesson about the ambiguity of good and evil.
