Picture by Ciné-Tamaris. In 2007, Sandrine Bonnaire debuts as a director with the documentary HER NAME IS SABINE. The film premieres at Cannes Filmfestival and receives, among others, the FIPRESCI Prize and is shown at the Berlinale. It follows the story of Bonnaire`s younger sister, Sabine, who has autism. Unagitated and accusation, Bonnaire describes a horrific story: ”She was suffering from a depression and we, as a family, did not see any other option but to have her treated in a clinic. Until then, she didn`t take any medication, she always got along fine without. We entrusted Sabine to the world of medecine - and see for yourself how she came back to us.”
