JORDMANNEN recounts the story of an immigrant from Anatolia who comes to a new country in the hope of a better life. The everyday life of the nameless protagonist, who is portrayed using a plasticine figure, is characterised by alienation, racism and exploitation. A grim portrayal of a migrant labourer in a Western affluent society who is exemplary for many others: The unskilled labourer is judged solely on his merits and is not accepted as a new member of the transnational society. The filmmaker Muammer Özer was granted asylum in Sweden in the 1970s. (Can Sungu)
