The plot of the film happens during the breakout of an epidemic in a small town in the 22th year of the regency of the king Jungjong in the Joseon Dynasty. Apart from the epidemic, a rumour that there is a man-eating monster creates fear and terror amongst the inhabitants. In order to counteract the rampant panic, the highly esteemed General Yoon-gyeom is brought back from retirement by the king and together with his daughter and a handful of select few go to fight against the threat. MONSTRUM delights with its setting that has been elaborately staged in the Middle Ages, with an utterly unbelievable number of extras and fantastic action scenes.
