Damaskus, 2011: on the eve of the Arab Spring 25-year-old Nahla dreams of an autonomous life free from society`s boundaries. The planned marriage with a Syrian man who emigrated to the US promises change for her, but things turn out differently, when he develops an interest in her more docile sister. In MY FAVOURITE FABRIC the director Gaya Jiji tells a dense story of universal themes, as the film revolves around questions of female desire and one`s place within a socio-political cosmos. The film emphasizes the sensual, of which a big part is the title`s fabric, but also the body, the flesh, the touch – and of course the poetic soundtrack composed by Peer Kleinschmidt.
