Picture by Jenny Lou Ziegel. Jona moves from Berlin to the German-Czech border with his parents. Bored and frustrated, he roams through the region. Crossing the border daily, he bumps into Miro. The taciturn and self-assured 13-year-old Ukrainian fascinates him. Jona fights for his friendship and suspects only that Miro`s world on the other side of the border is a parallel world which could scarcely be more unfathomable, for Miro does not have a family but a pimp. Reyel takes up the subject of child prostitution very carefully without exhibiting Miro`s life or evaluating it, and produces a strong and disturbing suspense via the taciturn way of narrating.
