Her rational father keeps telling 11-year-old Kenza to use Dutch instead of her mother tongue Papiamentu. After all, she is supposed to have a better life in the future. Together with her grandfather, who pursues his interest in mythical traditions, the three of them live on Curaçao. Kenza feels uprooted and lost. With adolescent feelings on the horizon, she sets out in search of time-honoured traditions, ancestors and customs. It becomes a search for her cultural origins and her mother's spiritual heritage. A story about the continuing effects of colonisation and cultural appropriation, told in accentuated images and supported by a strong actress.
