Size 8 – a dream in artery red! Sheila, a lonely bank employee in her mid-50s, buys the unique piece in a winter sale. Her life takes an unexpected turn ... This also applies to future owners of the dress, which obviously has a life of its own. "A beguilingly photographed, opulently furnished horror tale peppered with film quotes, which sees itself as a homage to the Italian shocker cinema of the 1970s as well as the British horror film." (FILMDIENST). Strickland's fourth feature film, as elegant as it is whimsical and ironic, can be read as a satire on consumerism, but is above all a declaration of love for the aura of the department stores of bygone days.
