WER IM GLASHAUS LIEBT ... DER GRABEN is the first of several films in which Senta Berger appeared in front of the camera under the direction of Michael Verhoeven. The film was produced by her production company Sentana, which she founded together with her husband. It is about the attempt at a ménage-à-trois between Igor, his wife Hanna and his lover Christine. The film screened in competition at the 1971 Berlinale, was temporarily confiscated for obscenity, and the lead actor and director were temporarily arrested. At the time, the film was widely regarded as a provocation. Michael Verhoeven shot the film in the studio of the painter Hundertwasser on 16mm.
