A parable about freedom, identity and integration, embedded in a true 18th century story. Markus Schleinzer's silent drama is about Angelo Soliman being abducted from Africa to Europe. There he is taken into the care of a Comtesse who educates him, teaches him language, music and acting. She also gives him access to education and social interaction. Nevertheless, Angelo, as the "Court Moor", remains an outsider among the whites throughout his life – even after his death. In magnificent, strictly formalistic images, Schleinzer sketches, in three chapters, a portrayal of the morals and customs from the early 18th century in which the greatest punishment was freedom.

Director's Biography:Born in Vienna in 1971. Before Schleinzer started to direct himself, he worked for many years as casting director with Michael Haneke, Ulrich Seidl and Michael Glawogger. His film debut "Michael" was shown at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival Competition.
