With its powerful images this film is indeed an orgy: a creative mixture of spaghetti-/neo-western, Sci-Fi and dystopic mystery thriller. It takes place a few years in the future in the remote village BACURAU in Brazil. The villagers gather for a funeral and to get water and medicine only to discover that their village has vanished from all maps. Evil nears in the form of Udo Kier, leader of a group of gringos. Sonia Braga as a doctor and the entire village defend themselves. Suspenseful and intelligent entertainment which is socially and politically critical as well.

Director's Biography:Both were born in Recife Brazil: Dornelles in 1980, Mendonça Fiho in 1968. His first two films each won over 30 prizes. BACURAU, their firm joint film won prizes in Cannes and Munich.
