Two famous actresses who have never shied away from scandal. While Jane Birkin breathes Serge Gainsbourg's song "Je t'aime...moi non plus" so lasciviously into the microphone in 1969 that the responsible sales manager of the Italian record company is excommunicated at the behest of the Vatican, daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg steps out of the shadow of her famous parents as the muse of enfant terrible Lars von Trier. Her directorial debut is an intimate portrait away from the frenzy of flashing cameras and the red carpet. The title is a tribute to the Grande Dame of French cinema, Agnès Varda, who died in 2019, and to her film JANE B. BY AGNÈS V. „A tender and quite illuminating portrait of a mother-daughter relationship.“ (Screen Daily)

Director's Biography:Born in London in 1971, she grew up in a family of artists. The multi-award-winning actress and singer first appeared in front of the camera at the age of 12. JANE BY CHARLOTTE is her directorial debut.
