Zak, 22, suffers from Down syndrome and leads an undignified life in an old people's home. Driven by his big dream to become a professional wrestler, he breaks out one night and meets the fisherman Tyler (Shia LaBoeuf), who is on the run himself. At first anxious to get rid of Zak as soon as possible, a friendship eventually develops between the unequal men. Followed by Eleanor (Dakota Johnson), who is supposed to bring Zak back, the two set off on an adventurous trip. This modern Huckleberry Finn story by the producer of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE tells a story about friendship, humanity and adventure without much pathos.

Director's Biography:Nilson is filmmaker and adventurer from North Carolina. Schwartz, also globetrotter and filmmaker, together with Nilson founded the production company "Lucky Treehouse" in 2014. THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON is their shared feature film debut.
